We are writing to express our deep gratitude to you and all the staff at Benslow that have cared and looked after the health and welfare of our mother and father over the past five years.
We have been very happy with the quality of care, professionalism and the sensitive and honest relationship that we have developed with one another over a challenging period of the latter stages of their lives. Mum in particular has experienced a good quality of life in what remained for her and we were comforted and confident that she was being well cared for.
As a family we made a really good choice, when having looked around the area for somewhere that would be good enough for Mum - we chose Benslow. The building and rooms looked 'homely'- not institutional and have provided a safe and welcoming environment for her.
We would also like to thank you personally for the support, advice and common sense approach 'above and beyond' in dealing with a number of issues that we faced as a family: financial, Social Services, Dads visits and informal 'care' in the early days etc.
Dear Sandra and all the staff,
A big thank you to everyone for looking after mum while she lived at Benslow. The love, respect and dignity towards mum was far beyond anyone's expectations. I am sure you all will share special memories and moments. Each resident leaves a bit of their love behind as a moment of the end of life's journey. I for one will pop in just to cause a smile. Love to all xxxx
It was out of my hands, when the hospital informed me Mum could not go back to her assisted living flat, this was due to her frailty following her strokes and weak heart. Not knowing where to turn, I rang Sandra (Benslow Nursing Home Manager)from a list of possibilities given to me by the hospital.
Within the first minute of my telephone call to Sandra I knew Benslow Nursing Home was the perfect care home for Mum. Sandra welcomed me with friendliness, honesty and reassurance that life for Mum could continue albeit with her restricted mobility and high needs, living in a care home environment.
Mum is painfully shy, what a relief she has settled extremely well and is very content and happy. She feels relaxed in the day rooms sharing time with other residents. She also enjoys her personal time in her bedroom in the evenings before retiring at night.
Sandra has a wonderful team of dedicated well trained staff, who respect individual needs and personalities with dignity and love. Meals are nourishing homemade dishes, desserts and cakes, considering special dietary requirements. The nursing staff are always aware of any changes in health that may require further attention.
Deciding on Benslow after the first minute was the best decision I could have made for Mum and our family.
Written with grateful thanks,
Hazel Broughton and family
I am writing to thank you for the care that Benslow Nursing Home has provided for Mum over almost the last six years that she has been a resident. Following a stoke in 2007, Mum was unable to return home and we began the search for a home with Nursing care. Benslow stood out as an excellent care home in many ways. It was evidently a clean and well cared for house, with staff who were both friendly and professional. Residents appeared to be well settled and happy, and activities were provided to keep them mentally active.
Throughout her stay Mum was both well cared for and happy, receiving excellent nursing care. The care had a personal touch, she become friends with the staff and in particular was pleased that the same person helped her to keep a routine and get up each morning. In her last days, when Mum's care put a greater workload on staff, Care was never lacking and we were kept constantly informed about Mum's health.
May I thank you and all the staff for looking after Mum. We are very happy about the time she spent at Benslow and would be happy to recommend it to anyone seeking nursing care for their loved ones.
Written with heartfelt thanks, Dr Phil Warner.
To Sandra, Rebecca, Louise and any other staff that I don't know the names of.... but the sentiment is huge! I would like to thank you, from the bottom of my heart for taking care of Dad in his final hours, you will never know how special your kindness was to myself and Dad. You are very special people. Love Caroline, Steve, Alysia & Elle x
To Sandra, Rather belatedly, I am writing to thank you ALL for the splendid Christmas lunch you put on for the Mackenzie clan on Christmas day. There were 6 of us, and the food was delicious, and even though it was probably your busiest day of the year, you gave us a room to ourselves, decorated it beautifully and waited on us hand and foot. We had such a good time - thank you so much.
Dear Sandra and all the staff,
Just a short note to say thank you for the lovely flowers for my mother Gladys on the day of the funeral, they were a lovely thought. Also I would like to thank you and especially all your staff for making our mother welcome and looking after her for almost 4 years. All of you are saints in my eyes for all the hard work you do caring and looking after the elderly who can't look after themselves and who suffer from Dementia. It is such an awful disease robbing them of their memories and the recognition of their loved ones. I did find it hard to visit her when she lost all memory of me, but you can't abandon her it's not her fault. At the early period of her stay she did love me bringing her some treats, cakes and chocolate. This last week I reflected on my mother's passing and have come to the conclusion that although I shall miss her so very much even though she did not know her family anymore it has to be a blessing not only for her but all her family. Her suffering has ended and she is now looking down on us with my Dad. Kind Regards.
To Sandra and all the staff at Benslow, We would like to thank you for all your loving care that you gave to "Our Mum" over the last 6 years. For making us feel so much at home with mum. Your care and devotion were over and above the care of duty and we will always appreciate all you did.
Dear Benslow Ladies, I would like to thank all of you for looking after my Dad so well in the 6 months he was with you. I know he gave you same difficult times, but you always treated him with kindness, understanding and respect. He could not have had better care, and I will always be grateful to you for your patience, kindness and concern- both to Dad and myself. Thank you.
Dear All at Benslow, just to thank the whole team for all the time, care and effort you put into your work all year but specially at Christmas. We know that Charlie is offered the best quality of life we could find. The Christmas meal you provided was great, we just couldn't do it justice. Dee and I spent a happy 2 hours with Charlie on Christmas day and spoke to Sandra too. Its 2 ears we didn't think Dad would see and 10 years since Mum died, She was the brains in the partnership, he was the brawn to carry out her wishes. Well done, Its a new year ahead with new challenges. Thanks again Chris & Gina.
